District Nurses

The district nurses visit patients who are housebound. They can be contacted on 01902 444003. A doctor usually makes the initial referral.

Health Visitors

The health visitors give advice on health care to parents and carers of infants and young children, the elderly and those with disabilities

Midwife - Various

Just found out your pregnant,

As From Tuesday 18th July you will be asked to self-refer your pregnancy to the midwife by scanning a QR code or entering a URL link that will take them to the online referral page.

Once the online form is submitted it will be sent directly to New Cross Maternity Services, the GP practice selected on the form and to the Community Midwifery team who cover that GP practice.

Please contact the sugery, so that we can give you information on how to self refer to the midwife.

There is an antenatal clinic every Thursday between 09:00 and 16:00.  Pregnant women are first seen at around 8 - 10 weeks pregnant. They can get help and advice in every aspect of antenatal care. Once a pregnancy has been confirmed, it is important to book an appointment with a midwife who will then monitor you throughout your pregnancy.

Vaccinations

All the practice nurses can give advice about vaccinations required for travel and other general routine appointments. Appointments can be made at reception, or it can be arranged for a nurse to call you back

Flu Vaccination

It is recommended that all patients with diabetes, asthma, heart disease, lung disease, kidney disease and residents or residential or nursing homes, have a flu vaccination. All patients over the age of 65 and health workers are also advised to have this immunisation. For further information, please contact the surgery in October

Baby Clinics & Childhood Immunisations

Baby clinic is held at the Phoenix Centre every Friday at 1.30 - 3.30 pm.

Appointments are automatically sent out for development checks.  All childhood immunisations are given on a Friday morning, by appointment only, with a practice nurse.

Cervical Smears

All women between the ages of 25 and 65 years of age should have a cervical smear. These should be done at three yearly intervals and are carried out by the practice nurses. There is a recall system operating. However, if you are not called when you think appropriate, please contact the surgery.

Ear Syringing

Ear syringing is no longer performed at this practice. Although the risks are low and our nurses are specially trained to perform this procedure, there is a small chance (thought to be around 1 in 1000) of complications - such as a perforated ear drum, middle ear infection, external canal infection or causing ringing in the ear (tinnitus).

If you do have stubborn ear wax then you may be suitable for referral to ENT. (Please be aware that there may be a significant wait for an ENT appointment).
